SCR Dimmer on the LEDs
1. Introduction to Router
It is common that ordinary incandescent lamps and halogen lamps usually use SCR to perform dimming. As the incandescent lamps and halogen lamps can be regarded as a pure resistance device, which do not require that the input voltage must be sine wave. Because the current waveform is always consistent with the voltage waveform, so no matter how the voltage waveform deviate from the sine wave, it can be dimming as long as changing the input voltage’s effective value.
Using SCR to perform dimming is a method to achieve the goal of changing alternating current’s effective value via cutting its sine wave. It’s Electrical Schematic Diagram is like Figure 1.

Dotted portion is the SCR Dimmer Control Switch wall mounted. The electric resistance between a and b is Incandescent lamp load. So the load is series-wound with the SCR Dimmer Control Switch. Changing the variable resistor’s intrinsic standoff ratio, to change its conduction angle, then its effective value could be changed either. Generally speaking, the potentiometer has a control switch, connected with the input end of n, functioning as turning on/off the lights.
2. Advantages of Using SCR Dimmer
If LED Tubes want to replace the position of incandescent lamps and halogen lamps with SCR Dimmer, it must be compatible.
Specifically Speaking, in some places where have been mounted with incandescent lamps and halogen lamps and SCR Dimmer Control Switch, it already have two connecting line wall-mounted lead to lamps. Because it is not easy to exchange the SCR Dimmer Control Switch and add the amount of connecting lines, so the most successful way is leave those unchangeable, just screwing off the incandescent lamps from holder and then put on the LED tubes with compatible SCR Dimmer function.
Our LED T8 tubes could be with SCR Dimmer Function. And its size is exactly the same as ordinary T8 fluorescent lamp. It do not need trained electricians to replace the original lamps. The installations can be done by customer themselves, which is favorable for the LED T8 Tubes’ popularity.
